As you will see, we are well-placed with lots of local amenities.
Our nearest village is Valanjou 2.5km away where you will find two boulangers, a pharmacy, bar-tabac, two hairdressers, an excellent supermarket (open on Sunday mornings), a garage, and ‘Le Lavaoir’ – the village creperie. A travelling fishmonger comes to the village square every Thursday evening around 5pm. Why not cycle in, enjoy a pichet of local wine at the bar, buy fresh moules and cycle home again. The bar-tabac overlooks the newly designed village square and has a lunchtime menu for 12euros – three courses including wine. Valanjou boasts an Aire de Plaisance with a lake and picnic tables and a small chateau taken and partly destroyed by the English in 16th century.
The small town of Thouarcé is approx 9km with a small open market on Tuesday mornings and a Super-U supermarket with petrol.
There are two banks, boulanger, florist, bar-tabac and good restaurant – Le Cheval Blanc. And a super new indoor swimming pool.
Vihiers is slightly larger and is 10km. Market day is Wednesday. There are several restaurants and bars, post office, large Super-U supermarket, banks, optician, pharmacies, open-air swimming pool, and riding school. There is a very nice pic-nic area with plenty of shade, parking and lots of local fishing activity.
12km west is Chemillé known for its herb garden and medicinal plants with a large street market on Thursdays selling local produce, clothes, etc. There are cafés, bars, banks, supermarkets (Hyper-U being the largest), a huge new theatre with restaurant and another brand new swimming pool! There is a pizzeria and a good Routier.
